WMACA enter Child Protection Week with a Public Service Announcement in the form of a video designed and made for us by well known artist And outspoken struggle veteran, Haroon Gunn-Salie.
In the form of an art installation it will be running at the Goodman Gallery for this week, and will be flighted on various TV channels throughout the week
We wanted to make something VISUAL, so people can see the reality of the process through the courts, instead of everyone just hearing the nebulous term “Child Protection Week” every year, not really knowing what it’s about.
The reality is that children in our country are in danger. Either from lurking sexual predators, but mostly from people known to them – the very people who are supposed to protect them.
The fact that children are being abducted from their homes, raped and murdered, and their bodies concealed or burnt should be a very loud wake-up call to us, about the violent society we’re living in, and are becoming far too closed off to.
